Travel to Cargèse

Cargèse is located on the west coast of Corsica. The closest airport and harbour are located in Ajaccio. Other itineraries are possible but please be aware of the scarceness of public transportation in Corsica. Driving through Corsica is scenic but can take a long time.

The IESC organizes a shuttle service between Ajaccio and Cargèse. These are scheduled to fit with flight or ferry arrivals from metropolitan France. Public transportation in Corsica is scarce. One option is to use the Corsica bus.

Average daytime temperatures in May are generally 16^oC (61^oF). Night time temperature can be slightly cooler falling below 10^oC (50^oF). The months of May and June happen to be the wettest months of the year so bring an umbrella or rain gear.

Accommodation

The on-site Institute housing facilities include 26 double rooms, a studio, an apartment (for 2-4 persons) and a villa (for 2-6 persons). Two rooms are fully accessible to persons with reduced mobility.

Participants are often lodged in the village of Cargèse, in studios of 4 bedroom apartments. A 20-minute walk is required to reach the Institute from the village, it is therefore necessary to provide proper footwear and a flashlight for night returns.
